French architects Jean-Marc Ibos and Myrto Vitart shared with us their mixed use project which includes a stadium, parking, workshops and administration of the TAM; sheds for trucks, workshops, services and administrative areas, sportroom, restaurant and bedrooms for 50 firemen. Located along the parisian ring, the project distinguishes two main types of space constituting the program: - Firstly, the infrastructure, a massive concrete base receives garages and workshops, and hosts in above, a sports playgroung. - Secondly, the superstructure, a thin linear building, located at the top of the site, occupied by administratives services.
The building borders the football field to the north, throughout its two-level linear and continuous, in order to connect as directly as possible the staff reception spaces and the garages located, vertically, in the basement. A vacuum is then formed on the third level, that overlook the last two levels. It offers, on this very cramped plot, an outdoor area protected and achieves the desired visual connections transversely to the highway ring.
To amplify the scope of these connections, the underside of the overhanging volume is thereby made reflective, since the peripherique or its outer bank, establish a visual link with the stadium, through the building, and vice versa. The peripherique ring is not anymore obscured and becomes, by the attractive force of this framework, a central element of the device.
A large sheltered terrace facing south, overlooking the stadium and the peripherique ring support new device implantation. Taking advantage of available linear, the terrace has been converted into a practice area. An athletics track belt it. On sunny days, the staff found it to have a break.
The ceiling of the terrace consists of a mirror polished stainless steel sheet perforated by acoustic insulation to trap the noise from the road and avoid its reflection to the stadium. Acoustic protection of the terrace itself is carried out by guards into glass panels clear enhanced. This protect of the terrace offers a relaxing place for staff, which can also be exploited in practice field for the fire-station. Externalization of uses is then an animation of the building from the peripherique ring.
