HouseEurope! Assembly

HouseEurope! will present its campaign and legal proposal at the HouseEurope! Assembly at Tempelhofer Feld. The event will include an introduction to the initiative, an overview of its goals, and a spotlight on international partners. Attendees will also watch The Demolition Drama, followed by a discussion with selected contributors from the film, including Lacaton & Vassal, Ruth Schagemann, Barbara Metz, and others.

The event will bring together the initiators and partners of the HouseEurope! initiative to discuss innovative concepts for renovation instead of demolition and sensible legislative changes at EU level. Tempelhof Airport, a symbol of Berlin's history and transformation, provides the ideal setting to shed light on the role of architecture and urban planning in this European context.

The evening will include the screening of the film "The Demolition Drama", which delves into the challenges posed by demolition for new construction and highlights the importance of renovation strategies. The discussion will center around essential steps needed in the construction industry, politics, society and specifically EU legislation to promote climate protection and sustainable development. The goal of the event is to foster meaningful dialogue and present concrete approaches which call to action and strengthen a sustainable European building culture.

The evening will be moderated by Ivan Blasi, curator of the EU Mies Award.
