The Arquitectura Film Festival Santiago puts its foot firmly in its second decade with this version that invites us to reflect on how we live and relate to each other in the current changing scenario. The call for the international competition will be open until August 30, 2024 and filmmakers from all over the world can participate in it through www.arqfilmfest.cl

The Architecture Film Festival Santiago, ArqFilmFest, celebrating its 6th edition, invites filmmakers and creators from around the world to participate in its international competition with films that establish a relationship between cinema and architecture, from the most diverse points of view possible.

The invitation is to participate with works that justify their relationship with emotional architecture, made between January 1, 2018 and May 20, 2024. The selected films will be exhibited in one of the three sections in competition: International Feature Film Competition and Medium Films, International Short Film Competition and Architecture Registry.

The selection of the winning works will be made by a jury made up of prominent figures from architecture, cinema and national criticism. In addition, the Inter-American Network of Film, City and Architecture Festivals RIFCA, established in 2020, will award a special mention to the best film of emotional architecture.

Films in competition will be received until August 30, 2024.

The selected films will be shown during the 6th version of the festival, which will take place between November 28 and December 7, 2024, in Room K, located on the El Claustro Campus of the Universidad Mayor (Marín 321, Santiago) and the National Cinematheque of Chile, located in the Palacio La Moneda Cultural Center.

The Architecture Film Festival Santiago

ArqFilmFest was born in 2012 as the first film and architecture festival in Chile and Latin America. With five editions in tow, the last of them virtual and in the midst of a pandemic, it returns in 2024 to inaugurate its second decade as a meeting space for creators, professionals and residents interested in being part of a community that explores the intersection between cinema and architecture.

Cinema and architecture have a deep relationship, where space and time meet to activate emotions. This edition of the festival invites you to explore how architecture can evoke memories, hide stories or connect people with their environment in a meaningful way. It is a call to be moved through the architectural experience, both on the screen and off it.

This project is financed by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage through the regional Fondart, in the Line of Organization of Exhibitions, Fairs, Meetings and Festivals, call 2024.
