Unbuilt is a membership community for motivated architects. Members gain access to a private digital community, educational content, and engage with challenging design competitions. All work is digital-native and designed for the virtual realm. Showcased work is experienced in immersive virtual exhibitions.
From prehistoric monuments to the printed book to social media, humanity commemorates moments with something that can concretize an ephemeral memory into something tangible and permanent. The aim of this competition is to delve into recent advancements in artificial intelligence to ask thoughtful questions about how we remember. Through creation and experience of our immersive virtual designs, we will add layers to a robust conversation on AI, architecture, and the concept of monumentality.
Monuments used to be the best way to express or commemorate moments and ideas. The printing press killed monuments by creating a new, accessible, ubiquitous mode of expression. Can digital architecture generated with the help of AI make architecture as ubiquitous as the written word? And if so, will the edifice kill the book?
For the Monumentality in the Age of AI competition, participants will design a monument for the current digital age. Plus Participants will learn AI tools including ChatGPT, Midjourney, and more advanced text-to-3D workflows. The deliverable will be an immersive 3D model using Epic Games' Twinmotion.
Five winning entries will be featured in a curated immersive virtual exhibition, hosted by Unbuilt.
In addition to the winners, five exceptional entries will be honored with Certificates of Achievement.
The competition is open to all and accepts teams up to 4 members.
