Pendant Lighting in a Surgical Center | A-N-D

A-N-D is a design-focused company specializing in innovative lighting products with cutting-edge production methods and the latest lighting technologies. Spotlight lighting from A-N-D was used in the redesign of the Westmount Square Surgical Center, located in Montreal, Canada.

Espace 313, an interior design and architecture firm, was in charge of the project. The idea behind the project was to get away from the sterile and cold atmosphere so often associated with hospital environments.

The design proposal puts forward functional and aesthetic choices that aim to positively influence the behavior of patients and staff. The layout of the space was initially designed to take advantage of the abundant natural light present in the space. In areas where this was not possible, the spaces are lit with a soft warm light, a deliberate choice that goes against the cold and sterile lighting often present in hospital environments.

For this project, the Spotlight pendant lighting D Series was chosen. Spotlight lighting is based on five unique shade profiles creating various silhouettes and control over down and uplight.
