Ceramic Fabric Facade in the Promenade Sibiu Mall | Flexbrick

The mall of Festival Centum at Sibiu installed Flexbrick ceramic systems to clad the facade. Inspired by the design of American shopping centers from the 50s and 60s, the mall includes over 160 commercial spaces and open biophilic roof space. The form of the cladding makes a reference to the brick materiality of the city space while using a non-traditional way of placing bricks. The result is higher levels of performance that maintain the elegant aesthetic of the bricklayer's works.

The rounded ramp that leads to the car park uses innovative curtains of ceramic fabric created with Flexbrick to offer a partially opened facade around the cylindrical form. The system rises up to the top level creating a boundary rail that defines an open space terrace. The form coordinates with the slashed walls that create a sense of rhythm.
