Laminated Glass - BirdSecure® Pro | Kuraray

The human population growth affects local flora and fauna. Urbanization has seen human habitation encroaching into areas that were traditionally the realm of wildlife presenting birds with unfamiliar obstacles and structures to which they have difficulty adapting.

This problem is compounded by the increasing use of glazing in architecture. From skyscraper curtain walls to feature windows in domestic buildings, glass has become an important material for both structural and aesthetic purposes.

Kuraray's BirdSecure^® Pro interlayer offers a glass solution designed for bird safety while remaining aesthetically pleasing to humans. Comprised of either Trosifol^® PVB or SentryGlas^® ionoplast interlayers, the solution uses a dot pattern integrated into the laminated structure that will help birds recognize the obstacle in their path of flight. The pattern becomes nearly invisible to humans at a distance of 2m or greater. The BirdSecure interlayer is laminated into the glass structure and performs like typical Trosifol^® or SentryGlas^® laminates. This solution has been tested by the American Bird Conservatory and demonstrated outstanding performance for bird collision avoidance.
