Geroldsauer Mill is a reinterpretation of a traditional mill in Germany. It is the largest European building completed in silver fir in the Black Forest region. The building with restaurant, exhibition space and market was erected in only 14 months on top of a reinforced concrete slab.
The outside wall elements were prefabricated using the timber frame construction method. The building is reinforced with EGGER OSB 4 TOP on the inside, which also created an airtight layer. The prefabricated façade made of silver fir was mounted on top of a 3 cm ventilation space. The photovoltaic system on the roof provides sustainable energy.
Only products from Germany were used. This was one of the reasons for the EGGER OSB 4 TOP board. The boards have a three-layer structure of micro-veneers or strands, which are approved for load-bearing construction. Their high quality and safety assisted in the acquisition of the general building permit. The tongue and groove profile guaranteed quick installation.
