It turns out that simply allowing light into a space isn't enough; it's the direction and quality of that light that truly elevates the environment. 

This year, the VELUX Nordic Architecture Competition—aptly titled "Daylight from Above"—invited architects from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway to explore the nuances of natural light in residential design. The competition urged them to craft spaces where light plays a starring role, sculpting interiors that shift and change with the hours and seasons. The aim? The German Design Council has certainly joined the fray, recently revealing the winners of the prestigious ICONIC AWARDS 2024: Innovative Architecture—and the results were nothing short of spectacular. This coveted competition honors the full spectrum of architectural and creative disciplines, from visionary spatial concepts and groundbreaking building projects to cutting-edge product design, remarkable brand communication, and inventive uses of materials.

The world's leading competition for sustainable design, Holcim Foundation Awards 2025, is calling for entries. The Swiss-based Holcim Foundation invites innovative projects at any scale, supported by clients and in the late-stage design phase, to compete for global recognition. The competition is free of charge with a prize pool of USD 1M and will be awarded across 20 winning entries.

Projects already under construction are eligible, provided construction is not completed before February 11, 2025. The entry window is now open from October 1, 2024 until February 11, 2025, with the Awards Ceremony taking place at the Foundation's Venice Forum event on November 20, 2025.

The A' Design Award returns with a fresh lineup of winners and a call for submissions, pushing the boundaries of creative design with a clear message: "good design deserves great recognition." This year, 278 jurors reviewed entries across 185 unique categories that also includes Good Industrial Design Award, Good Product Design Award, Architecture Design Award, spotlighting the best of the best.
