With the Tramato containers Gumdesign adds another sophisticated piece to the innovative research and experimentation project TRALERIGHE. There is a simple and complex idea at the base of everything: that the tessellation of three-dimensional surfaces and volumes can take place starting from a simple - and at the same time very elegant - element such as a line, a geometric shape which, par excellence, we associate to the concepts of infinity, evolution, energy. When the line leaves the flat surface and starts chasing edges, folds and cavities, the plot drawn through the weaving and alternation of black and white becomes legible to a greater degree of complexity: the play of solids and voids, of lights and shadows, inside and out, of content and container.

Designed in 1983 by Giotto Stoppino and Lodovico Acerbis, the Menhir collection is inspired by the stone monoliths of the British Isles and France, which are the archetype of the column. This research gave rise to the design of a base consisting of a steel column and marble drums with different finishes and shapes placed on top of each other. The current version maintains the drums’ shape but has more contemporary finishes, with matt marble, cast glass and new lacquered tops in colours that recall the gritty imagination of the late 60s and evoke the company’s heritage. Base and tops System of low tables and consolles feature versatility, combination of various shapes, sizes and materials. Tabletop The tops are available in the finishes: _ gloss lacquered in the colours black, white, SW white, linen, sand, clay, burgundy, pink, dark green, mustard yellow, brick red and navy blue. Low table sizes Ø80, Ø100, Ø120 cm and consolle 180x40 cm. _ essence, special inlaid and brushed open grain veneer, in black ash and dark stained walnut. Made of medium density fiberwood, thickness 20 mm, worked on the edge. Low table sizes Ø80, Ø100, Ø120 cm and consolle 180x40 cm; _ cast glass, extra clear glass plate hot molded with smooth and glossy upper side, wrinkled (for casting) and semi transparent back-lacquered lower side, in the colours black, mustard yellow, English green, pink. Thickness 10 mm. The glass tabletops are fixed to the base by a burnished stainless steel disk, which is visible in transparency as distinctive feature. Low table sizes Ø80, Ø100 cm. Thickness 8 mm. Structure and drums The base unit is made of epoxy powder coated steel in black matt finish, available in the following heights: 36.2 - 42.5 - 48.8 for tables and 80.2 for consoles. The drums have five different sizes and weights and ring the column, giving the table the necessary weight to guarantee stability and create supporting structures with a differentiated design. Monolithic elements are available in matt marble, in the Carrara Statuario white, Marquinia black, Levanto red and Alpi green finish, a chromatic variety that reveals a typically Italian tradition. Dimensions _ low table: Ø80 / Ø100 / Ø120 - H36.2 / 42.5 / 48.8; _ console: L180 D40 H80.2.
