Symphony of light Moving the point of light, that’s the idea behind the new design by Jaume Ramírez. Milana involves a system of modular suspension lamps that combine with one another and can be moved both vertically and horizontally. Paradoxically, this new design starts by deconstructing the archetype of a lamp; by synthesizing it as much as possible, only a cylindrical body remains, suspended with a built-in LED. To this cylinder we can add different conical shades in two colors, oyster white and black, in several sizes. But most ingenious of all is that each of these lamps can have a simple counterweight such that when they are hung between two points, they can be moved. An almost imperceptible lens covers the LED and distributes the light. If only the cylindrical lamp is used, the downward-directed light is impeccable, and when a shade is added, the light escapes, illuminating the lamp itself. This new lighting system gives the user control of the light, offering a new conceptual proposal. Covering and baring lamps, moving them up, down and sideways. Mixing cylindrical shapes or combining them with decorative lamps. Joining direct and indirect light. Milana lets you create countless compositions, a symphony of light.

PAO STEEL PENDANT The Pao collection of lamps is an exciting collaboration with established Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa. Named after the soft, glowing shape of traditional Mongolian Pao tents illuminated at night-time, Fukasawa set out to encapsulate the same atmospheric warmth and friendliness in the Pao Steel Pendant. Pao draws on Fukasawa’s aesthetic of beautiful simplicity; creating an everyday object that draws on design values existing in the natural world. By keeping the aesthetics modest and simple, he brings the design into harmony with its environment, reinforcing his primary intention of making the atmosphere pleasant and comfortable. Thanks to developments in the latest LED-bulb technology, the light source can be concealed from view within the shade, which is closed off with high-quality Acrylic (PMMA) diffuser, resulting in a clean and simple design with no visual intrusions. The pendant’s shades are crafted from steel with a high-gloss finish and are available in different sizes and colours. Their functionality and the deliberate simplicity of the design make them suitable for a wide range of spaces and uses in domestic and corporate environments. Soho is presented as a statement, in recognition of the merits of the lamps traditionally used in markets, taverns and cafeterias. After studying different volumes, proportions and materials, new uses and lighting effects have emerged. The use of rotation-moulded polyethylene allows us to easily offer this fixture in a wide range of sizes. Whereas before the Soho collection offered diameters of 57 and 112 cm, now it’s also available in a smaller size, measuring just 38 cm. This new size is more appropriate for smaller spaces, and increases the overall versatility of this fixture. This new size is also available as a new outdoor floor lamp, thus completing the collection. The existing colour range—black, grey and translucent white—is now joined by two new tones: sand and sky blue.

J104 Designed to recreate the classic FBD furniture collection, the J-Series offers a functional design born out of industrial development. FDB created a strong furniture concept in 1933, and under Børge Mogensen’s leadership as design director from 1942, the FDB furniture linked industrial production closely with architectural furniture design. The primary focus was not on detailing, but on making well-designed furniture accessible to the general population. The industrial approach eliminated the need for special components and all chairs featured identical legs. FDB revolutionised the industry as a precursor of many of the design icons that Denmark is acknowledged for today around the world. Jørgen Bækmark’s J104 chair was designed as a cross between a dining chair and an easy chair, HAY’s reproduction of this classic is crafted in solid beech with a natural finish or a variety of coloured finishes.
