Text description provided by the architects. Earth, Water, Flower, Wind, the golf course with the special name means nature. Nature here has the meaning of the origin which reboosts the power exhausted in the city and the daily life. It of course doesn’t mean the physical reboosting only. The beauty of non-daily life found in nature, the smell of earth, sound of water, the fragrance of flowers, and the freshness of wind come new to us, confirm how beautiful our world is, and encourage the pride to our life. That’s probably the true spirit of golf.
Club House is its turning point. It is a gateway from the city to nature and a space changing from a daily life to a non-daily one. Thus, the two cut-off points co-exist there and creates a dramatic transference of the space. Moreover, the club is not a closed space for certain people. The place where many unfamiliar people come together at the same time is an important community and the space that puts it is not a building but already a town and a city. For that reason, Club House is designed to be a town. Club House which is composed of many houses also has a purpose to completely carry out functional requirements to operate the system busily. In other words, each volume that fits for an individual functional unit is postulated and is later connected each other closely. Because of this, they are gathered in an irregular form and such irregularity created a natural form of a community. Besides, the spaces between created as a result of the clustering of the individual unit become a courtyard from time to time and provide a special richness visually as well as natural ventilation and lighting.
The volume which mostly consists one-story or two-story strengthens the recognition of the house with its gambrel roof and the collective figure made by the pitched roof creates a beautiful scenery just like a small village or a mountain temple.
For external facing, concrete and stones are used as main materials to signify the background that can fully accept the beautiful change of nature. The wood side of the opening is exposed together with the surface of the wood in order to imply the coziness of the inside.
The vehicles accessing will feel like they are entering a town. A guesthouse connected with the Club House embraces the access area and enhances the feeling. The circulation is minimized for the golfers who may arrive the town late and hurry up to start teeing up quickly. However, for anyone who has enough time, the locker room offers easy movements surrounding the courtyards at several places. Standing at the last hall in the field, the titanium roofs of the town give off a light and greet the golfers. The fields that they just passed and see in the bathroom are the sceneries of memories, and so are the sights seen in the dining room, the banquet hall, or outside terrace occasionally.
Club House remains as a town of memories created by earth water flower, and wind for everyone who goes back to their ordinary life after finishing the whole courses. So they gain the power here to start the daily life again.
