The Van Alen Institute, a non-profit architectural organization in New York City, is hosting a Q&A between Aaron Levy of Slought Foundation and William Menking of the The Architects’ Newspaper, with editor Thomas Weaver on February 3rd at 7:oo pm. Located at Van Alen Books, 30 W. 22nd Street, on the ground floor between 5th and 6th Avenues in Manhattan, you can “grab a seat on their yellow steps and join the conversation”.

The Q&A will be centered on Four Conversations on the Discourse of Architecture, the second installment of Architecture on Display, “a two-part series exploring the vexed relationship between architecture and its publics, uniting around a simple premise: that architecture problematises its own display,” (Aaron Levy, Introduction for Architecture on Display) published by the Architectural Association.
The conversations explore the position of curated exhibitions, informed and inspired by the Venice Biennale. It began in 2008, writes Aaron Levy, during a time of economic, political, and touristic tensions. The interviews explore themes of architecture and how they relate to exhibition, spanning four cities, four conversations: Venice, New York, London, and Chicago.
