Morin Corporation is specialized in the roll forming of architectural heavier gauge single-skin metal wall and metal roof systems. The design for this Elson Floyd Cultural Center at Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman WA was unique in concept and execution, the goal was to bring cultures together.
The design includes strong use of large exposed Wood structural components with metal highlights in 24GA W-12 Wall (Chevron look) metal accent panels in Bright Silver and Dark Bronze from Morin Corporation.
By far, the signature component of this building is the metal roof. The installation of this project was quite unique as it curved in two directions. In addition, there were a series of curved ‘eyebrows’ that incorporated skylights with curbs. The project is a focal point and WSU as it is one of the main entries to the campus.
An onsite roll form machine and the operator were brought on to curve panels on-site and the crane lift in bundles to installers. In addition, the panels had a unique paint finish which changes color throughout the day.
