In the midst of the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) 2015 National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, we had the chance to sit down with Elizabeth Chu Richter, CEO of Richter Architects and the AIA President for 2015 to discuss some of the important issues facing the architecture profession today.
“The 21st century practice for architecture is a global practice. You have to think globally and that means that we have to really be appreciative of all cultures because the opportunity is global: investments, finances, they all flow without borders, and so does talent,” Richter said in regards to new opportunities within the profession. She also advised young architects to “stay current” and “learn about the world around you and not just focus on the work itself.”
Watch the full interview with Richter to see what she has to say about women in the profession, young architects starting their own firms and the role of the architect in society.
