Developers Emaar Properties and Dubai Holdings have unveiled a new mega development planned for Dubai, dubbed Dubai Creek Harbour. Though no official architects have been named, the 6 million-square-meter masterplan is designed to be three times larger than downtown Dubai and will include the world’s tallest twin towers.
The super-tall duo will be two of six residential towers built as part of the phased development. Once complete, more than 39,000 homes and 22 hotels will be added to the area. In addition to this, the development vows to construct a new visitors center for the adjacent Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, which will remain “sacrosanct” to the development according to Emaar.
"Planned on an open site, Dubai Creek Harbour will combine the city with the natural contours of the creek," said a statement from Emaar. "With no legacy ties to infrastructure, this new Dubai will leapfrog many of the world's other global cities. The masterplan is an order of magnitude larger than Downtown Dubai and will support its commercial and cultural development."
The height of the twin towers is still unknown, though they apparently won’t hold a candle to the neighboring world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa.
