Mirador School is located on the eastern boundary of the municipality, on slopes that drop on to the Tietar valley and overlook the snows of the Sierra.
Mirador School is supported on the places that it attains on the hillside, on some of them it rests, and also tries to separate from them, in others its supports enclose rooms and protected areas for children.
Mirador School primarily intends to overlook, to observe the valley, like a snail that seeks the sun, it looks for the snows of the Sierra de Gredos, it wants children to learn from their immediate context, the color changes, the heavens, the rain, meanwhile the school remains calm.
Research Description
Mirador School is enveloped in a continuous and unique perforated metal surface, a continuity that is present in the surrounding buildings with another material.
Mirador School discovers a new coexistence with the ground, looking for appropriate spaces for play, recreation, and protection from rain.
Mirador School has flexible, interchangeable interiors. The library that opens to the north of the Sierra, the meetings, the play. In winter afternoons, the children are transfigured from the inside.
