Text description provided by the architects. Light is a crucial design element. It is the element that forms architecture by casting shadows. Following the light, we explore dynamic spaces and define functions. Areas between the light and shadows stratified the architecture. As time flies, the natural light is changing. Moving light creates different expressions of architecture: sunny, serene, and solemn. The high walls isolate human from nature, but light runs through a chink connecting the inside and outside. So, “light” is the key point for our project.
SENSO Convention Center is located in the east of company’s new site. The regular area was a wilderness of weeds. Our client engages in manufacturing industrial. After years of development, it has modern organizational structure and provides majority services to foreign customers. Hence, the client wants the architecture to reflect company culture, and besides, more dramatic. The convention center has a 1, 000 ㎡multiple-function hall without columns, four independent meeting rooms of different sizes and some relatively matching functions. The total area is about 1, 200㎡.
As a space for meeting and employee training, the center is focus on establishing enterprise identity and enhancing employee’s pride. It is open and narrative, attracting everyone to participate. Irregular windows lead the light into the interior, breaking the feeling of order created by metal materials. This brings a brand new visual experience to the workers who spent most of working time in the factory.
The small meeting rooms are formed by the box units on the plan thus the creation of elements on outdoor landscape are controlled while steel structured roofing interrupts unity on plan. It results the involvement of people in the richness of emotion within rational expression.
