Tonight, Studio-X Mumbai is hosting a free event with architect Dr. Balkrishna Doshi. The Mumbai gathering will explore the architects life and work on the release of his book “Paths Uncharted”. Described as an evening of storytelling, Doshi will also share his thoughts on the future of architecture. The conversation will be moderated and discussed with professor Neelkanth Chhaya, architect Rajeev Kathpalia and architect Sen Kapadia. Continue reading for more event information.
A Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects and Fellow of the Indian Institute of Architects, Dr. Balkrishna Doshi is known as an Indian architect, educator and academician. After initial study in Bombay, Doshi worked as senior designer with Le Corbusier in Paris from 1951-1954 and then relocated to India to supervise Corbusier’s projects until 1958. He founded his private practice, Vastu-Shilpa Consultants, in 1955. Shortly after, he established the Vastu-Shilpa Foundation for Environmental Design. He is also credited for founding and designing the School of Architecture and Planning in Ahmedabad.
Doshi is also known for working closely with Louis Kahn and Anant Raje in 1962 in the design of the 60 acre campus for the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. Check out the story here on ArchDaily.
