Text description provided by the architects. The building is located in a park, in Caen (France). It is designed for gardeners of the city. It includes areas of workshops, offices and cloakrooms. The particularity of the building is the fact that it produces more energy than it consumes. This is due to the fact that insulation is very important and that the plan is lead by bioclimatic and heliotropic principles. Then the building is covered with solar panels that produces electricity.
The concept of the building is to integrate those solar panels as part of the architecture. For instance, the sheds built to support those panels are orientated to the perfect south to optimize their performance so that the plan is lead by its location in the park. Then, a pattern was design to make the panels look like a skin on the roof.
